Every journey is like a celebration of life, like a song of the soul. When traveling a person discovers new places, new people, new horizons. When on the road, we leave behind our dusty, tired, murmuring, boring everyday self and find inside this cheerful child, jumping around and singing with joy. I find that in every new place I visit, no matter where it is and for how many days and with what purpose, I am like reborn – in a new place a person finds a new piece of him/herself.
I haven't been to as many places as I would like, but every one of them has grown close to my heart. Everywhere I have met people that have interested me, I have created memories and have discovered a piece of myself, together with a piece of the world.
In some places I have been astonished by the nature, especially in my own country or nearby places. When you live somewhere you start to think, “I am from here, who better knows what's around? I can show all the beautiful places to everyone interested”. Well, no. Here, on the Balkans, there is such beauty that can make you cry by just looking at it. Here you can see dramatic mountains, endless seas, hidden lakes with the purest waters, centuries old forest, deep caves, proud animals, flower fields; all of this under the bluest of skies, bathing in the sun. It is amazing and it is just beyond our doorstep. But somehow we don't always see it.
On the other hand there are humans.
I must admit that except nature's beauty I am also fascinated by the arts. I believe that the humanity in fact has nothing to give to this world, no other way to make it better, than art. All the rest we do is just either chimera, either servs to us and only us.
So, arts is another thing I am interested in, when traveling. In some places you can breathe it – you just get there and you know it, the soul of those who created it is there. And what better definition of arts? I've seen buildings that makes you head spin, paintings that make you heart ache, statues that call tears in your eyes; and I am sure that this is just the beginning of my journey in the world and that I have just scratched the surface.
And there are, of course, people. When you go somewhere it is unavoidable that you get interested in others' lives. It is just human nature. So, for me to watch the locals and to try to imagine their lives is just like reading a good book (because no matter if we think about it or not, we are daily writing our own stories inside our heads). To try and get in their shoes makes it even more vigorous – to eat local food, to use local transportation, to find the all favorite places, to talk with people (everybody likes to speak for themselves).
People are, of course, different and maybe see different fascination in traveling, so these are mine.
